9. INDICATIONS ON CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS FOR COFFINS. PRECAUTIONS FOR FUNERAL TRANSPORT BEYOND A CERTAIN DISTANCE.
9.1. The materials to be used for the construction of the containers used for the transportation of bodies must ensure the mechanical resistance for the necessary support of the body and the impermeability of the coffin (solid wood and zinc or lead sheet where required). The wooden coffin can be either inside or outside the metal coffin, although for aesthetic reasons it is customary to place it outside. The metal casket must be hermetically sealed by welding (cold welding is also permitted in addition to heat welding) continuously over the entire periphery of the contact zone of the elements to be joined together.
